The flag of the Vladimir Region is red rectangular bunting with light-blue strip at the hoist and width of one is equal to 1/8 of the flag length. The ratio of the breadth of the flag to its length is 2:3. In the middle of upper part of blue strip the golden hammer and sickle are placed. In the middle of red strip the golden-coloured coat of arms of the oblast is placed, the width of one is 1/3 part of the flag length. [1]

The flag is based on the flag of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. [2] The hammer and sickle stands for Communist rule.
