The flag of Y Wladfa (Welsh for "The Colony"), a collection of Welsh settlements in Argentina's Chubut Province.
Symbolism[]
The flag is the flag of Argentina, but with the Welsh red dragon (Welsh: Y Ddraig Goch) in the centre instead of the Sol de Mayo. This represents the settlements' location in Argentina and their Welsh history and origins. Starting in the 19th century, the Argentine government encouraged emigration from Europe to populate Patagonia, to which many Welsh immigrants began arriving.
